~ Cultivating Creativity and Critical Thinking ~

In the summer of 2012, Camp Legend in Cupertino offers Art Camps, Science Camps, Lego-Robotics Camps, Technology Camps, Writing Camps, Creativity Camps, as well as Chinese Immersion Camps for children entering K through G5. (Please refer to the Camp Ingenious page for G5-8 participants.) Offering different engaging activities, the camp curricula are designed to cultivate children’s creativity and critical thinking in a stimulating environment. A new feature for this year is that Camp Legend will partner with Joyful Melody Music School to have a music component that offers a coordinated curriculum with some of our camps. These include Chinese Immersion, Creativity, as well as the Indian Art & Cultural Camps.

Grouping
Camp participants are divided into lower(K-G2) and upper(G3-G5) elementary groups. G5-8 group will be conducted at the McClellan site.
Schedule
Most are half-day camps, with AM(9:00-12:00) or PM(1:00-4:00) schedules. The only exceptions are the camps that have an optional coordinated curriculum with the music componet in the morning. Parents are welcome to mix and match to create a summer schedule that suits their children’s interests. Besides the specialized programs, the camps also include fun Friday activities, which include special field trips and fun stations. For the convenience of families with both parents working, extended care is available to cover the pre-camp(8:00-9:00), post-camp(4:00-6:00) and the lunch(12:00-1:00) hours. Dates and Session
The summer camps operate from June 18 to August 17, and all the camps offer 1-week sessions. Each week covers an independent theme and the themes are non-repeating all through the summer. This allows flexibility to accommodate different interests and length of enrollment. Full-day program open to daily enrollment in multi-themes camp styles from June 13 to June 15 is offered to interested families.

Camp Ingenious is a series of enrichment camps designed for adolescents entering G5 to G8. Under the design concept of “Cultivating Ingenuity”, the engaging content of the curriculum promises to challenge the minds of participants and spark enthusism for future exploration. Learning is attained through coaching and hands-on activities in a fun-filled and supportive environment.
